Maintenance and high level deep cleans for a taste of happiness
Posted on 5th November 2024
Our facilities management client looks after this production plant for one of the world’s favourite ice cream makers. They’ve been providing our favourite frozen treats for over 100 years. We help ensure the highest standards of cleanliness as part of their customer’s mission to create a taste of happiness.
For the last five years we have provided regular maintenance cleaning services as well as annual high level deep cleans.
Hygiene is a top priority
Hygiene is a top priority throughout food manufacturing processes and especially in commercial ice cream production. Keeping all the production zones clean alongside purpose designed equipment and top quality ingredients helps create world-class products. It’s also essential to meet rigorous regulations and food standard requirements.
Working in a food processing environment has its challenges due to the layout and equipment involved.
For this type of high-level cleaning, we only use new or nearly new battery operated cherry pickers. We clean and sanitise them every time before entering the factory.
We have to take great care when manoeuvring in the very limited space available. It requires all the skills of our most experienced operators to navigate the network of machinery, ducting and pipework. All our operators have dedicated uniforms for this site, changing into them before entering and removing them on exit.
We only use lint free microfibre and carefully selected cleaning agents for all the on-site cleaning operations.
Maintenance and deep cleaning for food production environments
Regular maintenance and deep cleaning in food production environments ensures continued compliance with food safety requirements. Schedules can include cleaning air supply and extraction ducting and removal of food particles, dust and grease. These can all affect the safety of your operations and your ability to meet European (ATEX) equipment safety standards.
The Food Standards Agency recommends a planned cleaning programme to ensure food production environments stay safe and maintain food quality. This includes what needs cleaning and how often, along with the products used and procedures to follow.
Explosions and fires. Known hazards in the food industry include explosions and fires due to the build-up of dust particles and other combustible materials. Flammable gasses from ovens and liquids and vapours from spirit based flavourings and processes also present risks. Legislation is in place to define the workplace assessments and required prevention methods.
Our maintenance and deep cleaning services
We carry out our cleaning services to ISO standards and provide risk assessments and method statements for every project. With regular maintenance and deep cleans your food production facility will consistently meet audit standards.
We understand every food production plant is different so we’ll carry out a full site survey in advance. Our microfibre cleaning systems are eco-friendly and economically effective. We aim to deliver superior cleaning without using unnecessary chemicals.
We tailor our hygiene services for food manufacturers to maintain high standards and minimise downtime. They include:
pre-audit cleans
high level cleans
production lines and conveyors
chillers and freezers
silos and storage
air supply and extraction systems.
