Corby factory
We were very pleased with the results of a recent building respray for our clients in Corby. Smurfit Kappa Litho creates sustainable high quality print and packaging solutions. They help their clients stand out from the crowd and wanted their site to reflect their commitment to design and innovation.
Before respraying surfaces must be clean and dust-free, so we started with a full exterior clean. The next step was an overall building respray in the corporate colour scheme. We think the finished results speak for themselves.

A sustainable building respray solution

We carefully choose materials and methods to minimise their environmental impact for all our projects.

For this building respray we used a single pack water-based elastomeric coating. It provides excellent corrosion protection and is more cost-effective than complicated polyurethane systems. It’s suitable for easy spray application and offers the highest corrosion class (ISO12944 C5-M), even in the most severe conditions.

What are elastomeric coatings?

Elastomeric coatings provide a protective barrier for your walls, roofs and floors. There’s very little odour and they provide a smooth all-in-one primer and topcoat.

Application is fast and efficient with strong adhesion, so preparation and clean-up time is kept to a minimum. The coatings are ultra-violet (UV) and impact-resistant, so they retain their colour and provide a long-lasting finish.

In their liquid form elastomeric coatings look milky but when dry they provide a flexible and stretchable covering. This means they can expand and contract wherever they’re applied without cracking or peeling. They’re ideal for properties that benefit from protection against moisture and are commonly used on concrete and metal surfaces. They also provide excellent coverage of nuts, bolts and welds.

Corrosion classes

ISO12944 is an international standard for protection from corrosion using coating systems and paint. It covers paint and coatings for steel structures although not concrete, non-metallic and high-temperature surfaces and chemical immersion for example.

There are a range of corrosion categories with C1 applying to low corrosion conditions like offices or shops. Other categories take into consideration pollution, weather, humidity and the salinity of coastal locations, for example. The C5-M category is suitable for the most severe conditions apart from marine and offshore environments.
